In commemoration of the 95th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the British Embassy gave 95 Ibirapita trees to different institutions in Uruguay, being the British Hospital one of the recipient organizations of this special gift.
In this framework on the 21st of June, the British Ambassador Faye O'Connor was received by the President of the Hospital Mr. Martin Wells, other members of the Board of Directors Christopher Golby, Winston Williams, Roberto Linn, Madeleine Pool, our General Director Cr. Walter Pereyra and the Heads of the Nursing Department Grad. Silvia Mosegui and Mónica Giménez.
In a warm ceremony, the ibirapitá was planted in the garden of the Main Building, a symbolic act of the historical friendship that bonds both countries.
The Ambassador Faye O'Connor honored our Nursing Department, presenting the book "Florence Nightingale: hospitals’ heroine", a biography of whom was an essential symbol in the development of modern nursing.
