The British Hospital has been supporting telephone consultations due to the increase of COVID 19 cases, the growing amount of tests done and the follow-up of confirmed cases, in answer to the increasing number of members and patients who require information, advice and some level of assistance.
In a context conditioned by the fast-growing number of people infected by COVID 19 throughout the country, and by the massive presence of the people in eastern resorts, the British Hospital updates its health care protocols and appeals to members´ sympathetic during the reorganization that may momentarily influence some of its services.
The human resources have developed and dedicated to telephone attention to overcome delays and setbacks that have been generated at the first level of assistance, so that once guided the patient receives a timely response which makes the following stages easer, in those cases in which it is confirmed that the person is infected by COVID 19.
With focus on the summer season, the Hospital has also decided to have a physical place with its own working staff to carry out swabs in Punta del Este, besides the building which is already available for the same purpose in Montevideo.
The management and the optimization of available resources has a double purpose, caring for its members and patients´ health and for the more than 1,400 medical and non-medical employees. Within the framework of the close relationship that characterizes the connection that joins them, the British Hospital appeals to the trust and consideration of its members to go through and overcome this stage of greatest demand.
The British Hospital continues to implement adjustments to keep providing the highest quality of usual care due to the growth of cases which has increased waiting times when the first line of care in the health system is under strong pressure, among other inconveniences and setbacks.
These days pressure is basically focused on the first level of care. High-complexity assistance, medical consultations and paraclinical studies remain unchanged.
With the passing of days, the measures adopted will make possible to cover the demand more adequately, accompanied by members and patients who remain calm, who wait to be called and take care of themselves if they present symptoms, while the appropriate coordination and follow-up are carried out.
As the country's health authorities have repeatedly pointed out, it is important not to attend emergencies with covid-related symptoms, neither at the British Hospital nor at any other health care center, except in serious situations or others of another nature.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the British Hospital has accurately observed the security protocols for handling COVID 19, while permanently monitoring the situation in order to make changes and adjustments that health care reality requires.
