The new British Hospital in Punta del Este will offer specialties such as medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, cardiology, dermatology, otorhinolaryngology, and ophthalmology.
The British Hospital opened its first location in Punta del Este, situated in the Beverly Hills neighborhood. The Clinic which was built on a 9,500-square-meter property, has three floors and will operate as a referral center in Maldonado department. Its opening to the public is scheduled for the 8th of this month.
The Project developed on a one-hectare corner lot on Orlando Pedragosa Sierra Avenue, required an investment of nearly $5 million dollars. Walter Pereyra, the Institution's Managing Director, emphasized that the location was selected to blend into the residential environment without impacting the neighbors.
With more than 160 years of history, the British Hospital maintains high standards in infrastructure, equipment, and human resources. The Punta del Este branch will strengthen its non-profit model, reinvesting in technology and medical services for local and tourist users.
High-Quality Medical Services: HB Arrives as a Reference Center
In its initial phase, the center will offer care in general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, cardiology, dermatology, otorhinolaryngology, and ophthalmology. It will also have a laboratory and electrocardiograms.
"In a second phase, we will incorporate more specialties and tests such as ultrasounds and imaging," Pereyra told LARED21.
The institution prioritizes the integration of state-of-the-art equipment. Its plans include expanding diagnostic capacity, including advanced imaging tools. These advances aim to reduce patient referrals to centers in Montevideo or abroad.
The presence of national and departmental authorities during the inauguration reflected the inter-institutional support for the project. The Clinic joins the private healthcare network in Punta del Este, complementing the existing offering in the area.
Infrastructure and Regional Projection
The three-story building was designed to optimize spaces and care flows. Its facilities include modern consulting rooms, spacious waiting areas, and up-to-date medical technology. The facility, surrounded by greenery, seeks to combine functionality with a calming environment for patients and professionals.
The British Hospital emphasizes its commitment to quality through ongoing staff training. Pereyra reiterated that reinvestment in human resources is key to maintaining its long-standing reputation. The Punta del Este branch will employ local professionals and rotating specialists.
With this opening, the Institution consolidates its territorial expansion. The goal is to decentralize highly complex medical services, taking advantage of tourist demand and population growth in Maldonado.
