Dozens of students from all universities in the country are doing in the British Hospital their undergraduate and graduate studies in different specialties, together with a full agenda of academic, scientific, educational and continuous medical training activities that invite renowned media specialists and specialties from several countries around the world. Thus, the British Hospital consolidates as an academic training and scientific research referent. "Teaching, generation and the development of scientific knowledge support the care we provide to our members” said the British Hospital director, Walter Pereyra. During the last years the British Hospital has deepen into the relationship and in the fulfillment of academic agreements with the media and abroad universities, including the University of the Republic (UDELAR), the Catholic University (UCUDAL), the Latin American Center for Human Economy (CLAEH) the University of Montevideo (UM) and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRGS), as well as with the Medical Technology School of the Medicine Udelar University. The British Hospital is also an Associated Teaching Center (CEDAS) of the Republic University School of Medicine. So far the Hospital received twenty-eight internal practitioners from the School of Medicine CLAEH, as well as two other from the School of Medicine and five from the Physiotherapy career of the School of Medical Technology, UDELAR. Regarding postgraduates, five orthopedic surgeons from the University of Montevideo were graduated at the British Hospital and another twenty are currently studying in the Trauma Unit. The hospital has also received and still receives postgraduate internships in specialties as Gastroenterology, Intensive Medicine and Hematology, among others, and it carries out Biomedical Engineering programs for Maestrandos and Doctorates (UDELAR - UCUDAL). With the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, the hospital has an agreement for the training of professionals in Reconstructive Microsurgery, which has benefited several professionals from the Plastic Surgery Department, where regular updating activities and interclinical teleconferences are incorporated. As well as this, the British Hospital performs teaching in agreement with the Institute of Clinical Effectiveness and Argentina sanitation, in which 30 medical and nursing professionals graduated in Quality and Patient Safety, in 2013 and 2014. Teaching is added to the British Hospital updated policy and to the continuous training of its professionals, in order to guarantee the highest levels of attention. The hospital has a Department of Continuing Medical Education, led by Dr. Jorge Stanham from which medical and scientific activities are organized, coordinated and carried out throughout the year. At the same time British Hospital medical professionals regularly participate in academic and scientific activities at the best universities and hospitals in the world, acquiring practice and knowledge that then they will share with colleagues and nurses.
