August, 1st to 7th, 2012. “Understanding the past time, planning the future” We celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Breastfeeding World Week Organization (1992 – 2012). It is our aim to support the 10 steps proposed by Unicef for an efficient Breastfeeding. General Information: 1. A written Breastfeeding Policy should be available to the health care staff. 2. Train the Hospital staff to implement the policy 3. Inform all the pregnant women about the benefits of breastfeeding and the correct way to implement it 4. Help mothers to start breastfeeding shortly after the child birth 5. Show mothers how they should practice breastfeeding, even though, when they are going to be separated from their kids 6. Do not give any other food or drink to the newborn, excepting, when it has been referred by a doctor 7. Help providing the conditions to be mother and baby together 24 hours a day 8. Promote breastfeeding on demand 9. Don not give to breastfeeding kids artificial pacifiers 10.
