Academic actualization with referents from our country and abroad

With the participation of prominent specialists from the continent and our country, the British Hospital will take ahead a series of academic and scientific activities, leaded by the referents in different areas and specialties from the institution.

In the context of the ninth “British Hospital’s Week” the professionals will provide an actualization on the last advances in their respective fields, will share clinical cases and evaluate the results of different initiatives and experiences.

With free participation for health professionals as well as non-doctors from the British Hospital and any other institution, from Monday 5^th to Friday 9^th, the hospital’s different medical departments will propose different topics for each one of the activities.

In the same way as in previous editions, the activities will have the participation of experts from the region, informed Dr. Juan Carlos Bagattini, initiator and coordinator of the “British Hospital’s Week”.

For this reason, for this ninth edition, organized with the aid from the Hospital’s Continuous Medical Education Committee, the different departments proposed thematic axes for which they invited the main referents of Uruguay, who were joined by specialists of continental relevance.

“The British Hospital’s Week is a project we specified more than nine years ago, when we wanted to show what the British Hospital did to within and without, so to enrich our work and the healthcare we provide” pointed out Bagattini.

“As we showed it to others we allowed ourselves to gain a critical look about what we’re doing, being the community a part of such critical look, to which the activities are open. The underlying idea is that the British Hospital and the community are closely interrelated”, he explained.

The British Hospital’s academic assistant underlined that the main goal is “for the community to get to know what we do”, and then to “generate an exchange, which enriches us all, so to cooperate with the training of Human Resources in a multiple way”.

The Uruguayan professionals will be joined by Dr Adriana Fernández, from La Plata city, to talk about common gastroenterological topics in paediatrics; Dr Abel González, from Buenos Aires, who’ll address the British Hospital’s experience in Mohs’ Surgery; Dr Fabiana Reina, from Tucumán, who’ll talk about the multidisciplinary approach of transgender patients at the Adolescent Polyclinic and Dr Paula Luna, also from Buenos Aires, who’ll speak about atopic dermatitis, beyond the classical view.

The “British Hospital’s Week” is celebrated annually by petition of the professionals from the institution. The multidisciplinary approach complies with the institutional policies, encouraged by the hospital’s direction, of backing the best level of healthcare assistance by the generation of knowledge and teamwork between the different medical specialties.
