Due to the World Hypertension day, May 17th, the Honorary Committee for Cardiovascular Health wants to raise awareness and inform the public about the importance of detecting and treating this disease that affects 1 in 3 Uruguayans. What is hypertension? Hypertension (HT) is a disease that occurs when the blood pressure is high (above normal). Hypertension usually has no symptoms. For this reason it is considered the "silent murderer". It could damage various organs, such as the brain, kidneys and heart. What should I do if I am hypertensive?
